Haiga refers to the combination of haiku and image, something originally done with brush and ink but now just as commonly done with photographs and type fonts, which is my approach. I make haiga entirely on my phone, lately with Adobe’s free Snapseed app. Just as with poetry films, the challenge is to find images that compliment and expand on the text rather than merely illustrate it. I post the results to my long-running Woodrat photohaiku blog, along with occasional haibun and linked-verse experiments.
