I asked me mom Marcia Bonta, who has read thousands of nature and science books over the years, whom she would pick if the Nobel Committee asked her to nominate one living American nature writer. Her answer, which I can totally get behind: Wendell Berry. Not a nature writer in the strictest sense, but one of our most important gadflies, equally brilliant as essayist and a poet.
