Here’s an interesting metric of just how racist Americans still are: in the study described here, 73 percent of whites believed that black people’s bodies are fundamentally different—that their “blood coagulates more quickly than white people’s blood, their skin is thicker than white people’s, they have a stronger immune system than white people.” And 50 percent of medical students and residents believed these myths. Clearly, our education system is failing us here.
