Surprised to see that my friend Marc Neys has turned his back on social media: “All I did was promoting my works. I never was very social on any of those platforms.
It all became somewhat of a boring job…not truthful. A bit lonely.
On top of that I started to dislike the self promoting person I became online.”
To me, the only kind of online self-promotion that grates is when people endlessly push their creative projects with almost mono-maniacal focus. Marc didn’t do that; he just kind of put it out there. And his blogging has been a real gift, because his process notes on his films are so useful to other people in the field of poetry film and videopoetry. Fortunately, he says he’s going to keep that up.
