Very pleased to see this. If poetry is to survive in our culture at all, it cannot stay confined to the poetry ghetto. So it’s vital for magazines such as The New Yorker, The Christian Century and Orion to continue to feature poetry — and for that poetry to be as exciting and non-stodgy as possible. Choosing Aimee Nezhukumatathil as their new poetry editor shows that Orion is serious about staying relevant and interesting and (I hope) bringing a new generation of writers into its august pages.
